In this installation overview, we’ll walk you through installing the myQ app, adding the Smart Garage Control to your account, pairing and mounting the door sensor, pairing the garage door opener, and mounting the hub.

How to Install the Chamberlain Smart Garage Control

Before you can connect a myQ Hub to your home’s Wi-Fi network, you will need the following:

Note: If at any point during the setup process, you experience an error, follow the steps below to reset the myQ Garage, Smart Garage Hub, or Smart Garage Control and return the hub to factory default.

Connect with Apple iOS Mobile Device.

  1. Log into the myQ App.
  2. Check the image at the top of this FAQ to confirm your product.
    • For myQ Garage and Smart Garage Hub, tap Smart Garage Hub
    • For Smart Garage Control, tap Smart Garage Control
  1. Review and tap Next on the What You Need screen.
  2. Plug in the Hub and tap Next.
    • Once it is plugged in, the LED on the Hub will blink blue.
    • If the LED is not blinking blue, unplug the hub from the power supply and plug it back in.
  3. Tap Yes if you have a blinking blue LED light. If you have a Smart Garage Control, go to step 8.
    • If you still don’t have a blinking blue LED, press and hold the gear button until you see a flashing blue light, then release. Press and hold the gear button a second time until the hub beeps. This will reset the hub.
    • Unplug the hub from the power supply and then plug it back in.
  4. Scan the 10-digit serial number on the back of the hub. If the serial number doesn’t scan, tap Enter Serial Number Manually at the bottom of the screen. Type in the serial number and tap Done.
  5. Tap Join on the question, “Chamberlain” wants to join Wi-Fi Network “MyQ-NNN”?
  6. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list.
  7. Enter your network password and tap Next.
  8. Tap Next on the Added to Wi-Fi screen.
    • Note: Hubs manufactured before 2/4/2021 require a firmware update for functionality. The update should take 2 to 4 minutes. The app will notify you when the update is complete.
  9. Remove the tab in your door sensor and tap Next.
  10. Test your door sensor by pressing the button as indicated in the app, then tap Next.
  11. Go through the steps to pair your door sensor to your hub, then tap Next.
  12. Press and release the button on the door sensor. The Hub will beep and flash.
  13. Tap Next on the Door Sensor, which is the Paired screen.
  14. Follow the in-app steps or watch the video to install the door sensor.
    • Note: If the door sensor is not correctly installed on the garage door, the hub will not pair with the door opener in the app. 
  15. Tap Next on the Pair to the Motor screen.
  16. Read the warning and click Next.
  17. Use a ladder to access your garage door motor and tap Next.
  18. Select the brand of your garage door opener.
  19. Locate your learn/program button and tap Found It.
    • If prompted, select the color of your learn/program button.
    • This will be the same button you use to program remotes and keypads.
  20. Press and quickly release the learn/program button on your garage door opener motor head and tap Next.
    • This will cause your garage door opener to move
  21. When the garage door opener is paired, tap Next.
  22. Name your garage door and tap Next.
  23. Mount the hub per the app instructions.
    • You can watch the video or follow the in-app steps provided. Note: If the hub is not properly mounted according to the instructions, it cannot function properly as the garage door opener.
  24. Tap Finish when you have successfully installed the hub.
  25. Tap the garage door in the app to activate the door.

Note: Do not operate the garage door opener until installation.

Connect with an Android Mobile Device

  1. Log into the myQ App.
  2. Check the image at the top of this FAQ to confirm your product.
    • For myQ Garage and Smart Garage Hub, tap Smart Garage Hub
    • For Smart Garage Control, tap Smart Garage Control
  1. If prompted, enable your location services.
  2. Review and tap Next on the What You Need screen.
  3. Plug in the hub and tap Next.
    • Once it is plugged in, the LED on the hub will blink blue.
    • If the LED is not blinking blue, unplug the hub from the power supply and plug it back in.
  4. Tap Yes if you have a blinking blue LED light.
    • If you still don’t have a blinking blue LED, press and hold the gear button until you see a flashing blue light, then release. Press and hold the gear button a second time until the hub beeps. This will reset the hub.
    • Unplug the hub from the power source and then plug it back in.
  5. Tap MyQ-NNN showing in the Discovered screen.
  6. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list.
  7. Enter your network password and tap Next.
  8. Tap Next on the Added to Wi-Fi screen.
    • Note: Hubs manufactured before 2/4/2021 require a firmware update for functionality. The update should take 2 to 4 minutes. The app will notify you when the update is complete.
  9. Remove the tab in your door sensor and tap Next.
  10. Test your door sensor by pressing the app button and tapping Next.
  11. Go through the steps to pair your door sensor to your hub, and tap Next.
  12. Press and release the button on the door sensor. The hub will beep and flash.
  13. Tap Next on the door sensor, which is the paired screen.
  14. Follow the in-app steps or watch the video to install the door sensor.
    • Note: If the door sensor is not correctly installed on the garage door, the hub will not pair to the door opener in the app. 
  15. Tap Next on the Pair to the Motor screen.
  16. Read the warning and click Next.
  17. Use a ladder to access your garage door motor and tap Next.
  18. Select the brand of your garage door opener.
  19. Locate your learn/program button and tap Found It.
    • If prompted, select the color of your learn/program button.
    • This will be the same button you use to program remotes and keypads.

  21. When the opener is paired, tap Next.

  24. Tap Finish when you have successfully installed the hub.
  25. Tap the garage door in the app to activate the door.

NOTE: Do not operate the garage door opener until the installation has been completed.

The below steps are only needed if you encounter an error when setting up your myQ Smart Garage Hub or Smart Garage Control.

Erase Wi-Fi Settings

Erasing the Wi-Fi settings allows you to reset the Wi-Fi settings on the hub.

  1. Check the LED status. The Green LED MUST be on or blinking to erase Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Press and hold the Settings button on the hub until the blue LED blinks, indicating Wi-Fi is ready to be set up.

Factory Default

Setting the hub back to factory default erases the Wi-Fi settings and door sensors and removes the garage door opener from the myQ account.

  1. Press and hold the Settings button on the Wi-Fi hub until the blue LED blinks, then release.
  2. While the blue LED blinks, press and hold the Settings button again until the hub beeps and the Wi-Fi hub is set to factory default.
